Davis earns MIAA wrestling honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State senior wrestler Jordan Davis earned MIAA Co-Wrestler of the Week honors on Wednesday (Nov. 13) for his efforts at the Kaufman/Brand/Bayly Open hosted by Maryville University last weekend. Davis finished second in the Elite Division 285-pound weight class.

Davis finished 4-1 on the weekend, winning four straight matches to reach the finals. He had a pair of falls and a pair of decisions on his way to the championship match. Davis knocked off the No. 6 ranked wrestler in Division II, Logan Radick of Maryville 3-2, in his first match of the day. In the semifinals he defeated Ashton Mutuwa of Campbellsville 7-4, the No. 6 ranked wrestler in NAIA. He lost by fall to Brandon Reed of Lindsey Wilson in the finals, the No. 1 ranked wrestler at 285 in NAIA.

Davis shares the weekly honor with Brik Filippo, 149-pounder from the University of Central Oklahoma.
