Cold Front Hits Hays Just In Time For Homecoming

BY ELIZABETH ANDERSON

Brrr! The weather is changing and some are happy and ready for fall weather. However, others despise the chill of winter. This weekend will be a cold one so here is an update for those who want to be prepared for homecoming weekend.

Today will probably be the coldest this weekend, Friday’s high will be 50* and Saturday’s a high of 65*. However, it is still good to be prepared for the upcoming winds and cold chills. The Dodge City Weather Forecast tells us that “The coldest temperatures will be tonight… warmup this weekend starting off with upper 40/50s for your area tomorrow then the 60s both days this weekend.”

Dodge City’s Meteorologist, Jeff Johnson, also says that there is a freeze warning tonight with temperatures in the 20s. This killer freeze will bring an end to the growing season. So make sure to bundle up and come together for warmth!

Due to the high winds and cold weather, the Tiger Bonfire and Victor E Tiger March will not be held this evening (Oct 10). Instead, there will be a pep rally in the Gross Memorial Coliseum at 7:30 pm.

Some of the fun-filled events will include:

  • Remarks from President Tisa Mason & Head Football Coach Chris Brown
  • Performances by the FHSU Marching Band, Cheer Squad and Tiger Debs
  • Introductions of the Homecoming Royalty Candidates, Alumni Award Recipients and Tiger athletes
  • And more, all emceed by Gerard Wellbrock, the Voice of the Tigers!

Food Trucks will also be available at Gate 2, so don’t be afraid to stop by before or after the pep rally and grab a snack!.

With these helpful tips, FHSU sure hopes to see you at the Pep Rally, Football Game, and enjoying Oktoberfest even in these cold climates. The community’s hearts will warm you up along with giving you the experience of a lifetime.
