On Wednesday, September 25, FHSU students had the chance to snatch a tasty treat in the quad with “Donut” Cheat Day. The purpose of Donut/Do-Not Cheat Day was not all about snacks, but for FHSU to make a pledge to not cheat, whether that be in class or in a relationship.

Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Teresa Clounch was the mastermind behind this event.

“We wanted to bring awareness to the responsibility our Tiger Students have to maintain academic integrity,” Clounch said.

The students who attended also got to know a little more about the “Tiger Pact” that is used on campus and how it refers to them as students.

“The Tiger Pact refers to this in that the last sentence is ‘I incorporate honesty and responsibility in all I do.’ This speaks to academic integrity for all Tiger Students.” Clounch said.

The Tiger Pact is part of academic honesty. Staff expects all Tiger students to complete their work with academic integrity. The faculty works with Dr. Clounch and her staff by creating their syllabus for each class. These are used as a guide for academic expectations. They are also used by staff members for reporting academic misconduct displayed by FHSU students.

To add an extra element to the event, donuts were provided to every student that stopped by.

“The play on words with donut for “do-not cheat” is a fun way to engage students about a topic that is serious and important to our FHSU Community,” Clounch said.

Students found this event to be very helpful.

“I liked this event, because I got more of an ‘inside scoop’ on the Tiger Pact, which is a very important aspect to Fort Hays. I also was able to snag a quick bite on my way to class,” said FHSU student Jaqueline Rodriguez.
