Tiger Tennis Hosts Sterling College

Fort Hays State Women’s Tennis battled through the wind on Tuesday, September 17th against Sterling College. FHSU defeated Sterling 6-1; sweeping the matches in doubles play and took five of the six matches in singles play. 

Natalie Lubbers and Ellea Ediger played Sterling’s Janae Ryan and Keeley Hipp, and won the first doubles match 6-1. The next doubles match was played with Sydney McAdoo and Macy Moyers against the Warrior’s Nicole Marin and Maddie Thrasher; the Tigers won 7-5. For the last doubles match, Grace Holgerson and Kimberly Stone beat Brooklyn Bauman and Cortney Blackburn 6-0.

During the first singles match of the afternoon, Natalie Lubbers defeated Maddie Thrasher 6-1 and 6-0. Macy Moyers beat Janae Ryan in the second singles match 6-4 and 7-5. Ellea Ediger claimed a victory over Keeley Hipp 6-2 and 6-3. In the fourth singles match, Sydney McAdoo won over Cortney Blackburn 6-2 and 6-4. Kimberly Stone was the only Tiger that was defeated this afternoon, by Nicole Marin 7-6 (7-3), 7-5. The final singles match on Tuesday, Grace Holgerson defeated Brooklyn Bauman 6-2 in both sets. 

The Tigers had a great day of tennis with only one loss in a singles match; FHSU Tennis is now 3-2. The team will be scrimmaging Barton Community College on Monday, September 23rd. They will be competing against Bethel College on Friday, September 27th at 3:30 p.m.
