Softball readies for weekend in Missouri

Fort Hays State Softball is off to a 3-1 start in MIAA play and enters this weekend (Mar. 22-23) at 10-9 overall. The Tigers travel to Lincoln University and Lindenwood University this weekend in Missouri for another pair of MIAA doubleheaders. The Tigers take on Lincoln at 1 pm on Friday in Jefferson City, then head to St. Charles to face Lindenwood on Saturday at 12 pm.

Fort Hays State is coming off a sweep of Missouri Southern and split with Pittsburg State at home last weekend to open MIAA play. The 3-1 record in MIAA play is tied for fourth in the standings with Central Missouri. The Tigers are 5-2 overall against MIAA teams this year after going 2-1 against conference foes in early-season non-conference play.

Lincoln enters the weekend at 4-20 overall and 1-7 in the MIAA. Lincoln’s lone win in MIAA play was against Emporia State, but dropped both games of doubleheaders with Washburn, Northeastern State, and Central Oklahoma. Lincoln has dropped its last six contests entering Friday.

Lindenwood enters the weekend at 11-9 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA. The Lions were also swept in doubleheaders with Washburn, Northeastern State, and Central Oklahoma this year, but took both contests in their meeting with Emporia State. Lindenwood enters its contests on Friday with Nebraska-Kearney on a five-game losing streak.
