KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State women’s basketball senior Tatyana Legette has been named MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, announced Monday (Jan. 14) by the league office. Legette averaged 17.5 points over a pair of big home wins for the Tigers last week, adding 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 blocks per game.

The Topeka, Kan. native paced the team with 17 points and four blocks in Thursday’s victory over Northeastern State before leading the way with 18 points, six assists and two blocks in Saturday’s win against Central Oklahoma. Legette took advantage of 16 trips to the free throw line, knocking down 14 from the charity stripe (87.5 percent). She ranks 15th in the country in free throws made, drilling 76 free throws so far this season.

The big week helped Legette lift her team-leading season-averages to 12.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.6 blocks per contest.

It is the fourth time in her career Legette has earned weekly honors from the MIAA. She is one of two athletes to earn the distinction twice so far this season (Kallie Bildner, Lindenwood).

Legette and the fourth-ranked Tigers return to action Wednesday (Jan. 16) when they travel to Emporia, Kan. to take on Emporia State at 5:30 p.m.
