By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION

The sixth-ranked women’s basketball team looks to move to 10-0 Monday (Dec. 17) when Rockhurst makes the trip to Hays. First tip between the Tigers and Hawks is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Tigers played Rockhurst a year ago Sunday in Kansas City (12/16/17), with the Tigers leading wire-to-wire in a 67-50 victory. Carly Heim paced the team with 22 points, one off her career-high. The Tigers outrebounded RU 44-31.

Fort Hays State is 6-1 all-time against Rockhurst, including a six-game winning streak after dropping the inaugural meeting in 1987. The Tigers are 3-0 in Hays, with the last meeting coming back in 2005. Tony Hobson is 1-0 against the Hawks.

A win Monday would match the best start in team history after winning the first 10 games of the year in 2012-13 and 2015-16.

Rockhurst is 4-4 so far this season and enters Monday on a two-game losing streak. The Hawk offense averages 72.9 points per game while they allow 70.8 points per contest to their opponents. They knock down an impressive 40.6 percent from behind the arc, drilling 9.1 triples per contest. Rockhurst’s opponents grab on average 7.1 more rebounds than the Hawks. Madeline Ronshausen leads the team and ranks third in the GLVC with an average of 16.6 points per night.
