AUSTIN, Texas – Fort Hays State senior safety Connor Shedeed was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Shedeed receives this distinction after being named to the Academic All-District Team.

Shedeed holds a 3.81 GPA at Fort Hays State while double majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science. He is one of eight defensive backs nationally named to the Academic All-America Team, voted among the top four. Google Cloud Academic All-America Football Team selections are based upon both an athlete’s accomplishments in the classroom and their impact on the field.

Shedeed had a great senior season for the Tigers, leading the team in interceptions with three. He ranked second on the team in tackles with 88. For his career, Shedeed had 251 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4 interceptions, 8 pass breakups, and 3 forced fumbles, playing in all 48 games for FHSU since the beginning of his redshirt-freshman season. Shedeed was a two-time All-MIAA selection, earning second team honors in 2018 and an honorable mention pick in 2017.

Shedeed is Fort Hays State’s sixth Academic All-America selection under head coach Chris Brown. He joins Alex Whitehill, Jesse Trent (3-time recipient), and Doyin Jibowu as student-athletes under Brown to earn the distinction. Overall, Shedeed is the 48th Academic All-America selection by CoSIDA in Fort Hays State’s history.
