Fort Hays State opens MIAA play on Tuesday night (Dec. 4) when it plays host to long-time rival Nebraska-Kearney. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum, following the women’s contest. The Tigers enter at 4-3 overall, while the Lopers are 3-3 overall.

The Tigers are on a two-game win streak after wins over Sterling College and Central Christian College at home. The Tigers and Lopers meet for the 130th time in history on Tuesday night with FHSU leading the all-time series 79-50. The teams split their two meetings last year, FHSU winning by nine in Hays and UNK winning by three in Kearney.

Brady Werth leads the Tigers so far this year with a team-best 13.3 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Kyler Kinnamon averages 4.6 assists per game and leads the MIAA in assist/turnover ratio by the same average. All five of Fort Hays State’s starters average at least seven points per game. Marcus Cooper (12.9) and Aaron Nicholson (10.1) also average double figures in scoring for the Tigers.

Nebraska-Kearney is coming off a 29-point loss to Wayne State (Neb.) last Tuesday, but UNK shares common wins with FHSU so far this year by defeating both Colorado School of Mines and UC-Colorado Springs. Kanon Koster leads the Lopers this year at 16.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game
