Women’s golf listed eighth in coaches poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team sits in eighth in the 2018-19 MIAA Women’s Golf Preseason Coaches Poll, released Friday (Sept. 14) by the league office. The Tigers received 29 points in the balloting process, just three tallies behind Northwest Missouri State for seventh place.

Fort Hays State placed sixth at the conference championships a year ago, its best finish at the league tournament since winning the MIAA title in 2012.

Defending champion Northeastern State was picked to defend its crown, picking up five first-place votes and 68 points. Central Oklahoma was listed atop the three remaining ballots submitted, totaling 66 points to come in just behind the RiverHawks.

Head coach Rich Guffey‘s roster consists of seven returning golfers and one newcomer.

The Tigers finished eighth amongst league competition at the season-opening MIAA Fall Preview last week in Tahlequah, Okla. FHSU will return to the links Monday (Sept. 17) when it travels to Grand Junction, Colo. for the RMAC Fall Preview.
