On October 2, Fort Hays State’s University Activities Board brought a very special guest speaker to campus, in order to honor this year’s Homecoming Week theme, Victor E. Tiger Saves the Day! Bill Rosemann, twenty-year comic book industry veteran with Marvel and DC Comics, came to campus to share, “his insider insights from the iconic world of Marvel that will inspire you to recognize and unleash your inner super hero,” according to the FHSU website.
Rosemann used anecdotes from the lives of Superman, Batman, Captain America, and other famous superheroes in order to show that any person can be a “hero”. After his presentation, students were allowed to ask Rosemann about things such as his personal feelings towards certain superheroes, how he grew up with superheroes, and questions about the comic book profession.
When the questions ended, the crowd of students and community members lined up in the foyer of the Beach-Schmidt Auditorium to have Rosemann autograph comics, papers, superhero memorabilia, or take pictures with him. Several students donned costumes in anticipation of this event.
