For the past month, a campaign on the Fort Hays University main campus has been raising awareness for gender-based violence on campus. For the 8th year, The Red Flag Campaign has hosted events around campus for the month of October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Red Flag Campaign purpose is to raise awareness about domestic abuse and encourages both victims and friends of victims of domestic abuse to speak out against their aggressors.

The Red Flag Campaign placed posters around campus, which demonstrated the different types of domestic abuse and what each looks like. The different poster themes of domestic abuse around campus are coercion, emotional abuse, sexual assault, victim-blaming, excessive jealousy, isolation, and stalking.
