Student Government Association: Allocations and New Senators

BY NATHAN JOHNS

The Student Government Association held a meeting on Thursday, October 16. There were 22 senators in attendance of this meeting.

The meeting was relatively short, and focused mainly on the new senators joining the student government body. An icebreaker activity was held to make the new members feel more welcome to the association. The new senators were then sworn in by Senate Affairs Committee Chair John Colclazier.

Treasurer Glassman also talked a little on allocations, which would divvy up about $800,000 – $1,000,000 in funds to various student organizations. Finally, one bill was passed, bill 17/F/103 regarding the Educational Opportunity Fund which passed with a vote of 21 in favor and 1 abstention.

SGA will host their next meeting on Thursday, October 26, in the Black and Gold Room of the Memorial Union at 7 pm.
