FHSU Celebrates Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival

BY JADEN MOUNT

Where China is thousands of miles, our exchange students had no problem bringing their culture all the way to Hays, Kansas.

On Sunday, October 1, Fort Hays State University Chinese Students and Scholars Association celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival in the Memorial Union Ballroom.

The event began with a stunning performance of Ed Sheeran’s “Photograph” lead by Event Host Jesse Ren. This was the first of twelve performances throughout the night before ending with all performance and support members singing the song “Red Flag Fluttering.”

Throughout the night, performances by these students were absolutely spectacular, but the most powerful, in terms of crowd involvement, was Steven Pu. His performance of “The Cruel Moonlight” resulted in 90% of the crowd pulling out their iPhones and shining the flashlights while waving them back and forth along with the tune.

All in all, this was a great cultured event that FHSU student could experience, particularly for those who have lived in the MidWest all their lives.
