FHSU Men Win Friends Invitational

WICHITA, Kan. – Fort Hays State Men’s Track and Field won the Friends Invitational, held on Friday and Saturday (Apr. 8-9). The Tigers scored 200 points as a team to win by 80 over Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College. A total of 14 colleges competed at the meet.

The Tigers had five first-place finishers individually. Jake Morrow won the pole vault with a provisional qualifying height of 15 feet, 9.75 inches. The effort ranks 23rd nationally. Kameron Tate won the long jump with a distance of 22 feet, 1.75 inches. Christian Delaney won the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 9.25 inches. TJ Dozier won two events, taking the discus at 151 feet, 11 inches, and the hammer throw at 169 feet, 5 inches.

Kolt Newell improved on his provisional qualifying mark in the high jump with a height of 6 feet, 9 inches. He finished second in the event with the effort. He now ranks 10th nationally in the event.
