FHSU Sports Information Department

GUNNISON, Colo. – Fort Hays State saw six wrestlers advance to the second day of the NCAA Division II West Super Regional on Friday (Feb. 26). Jon Inman, the No. 6 ranked wrestler at 184 pounds, locked up a berth to the NCAA Championships by advancing to the finals on Saturday.

Adam Ludwin (125), Noah Killip (141), Bradley Little (149), Joey Dozier (157), and Cash Drylie (197) will try to make it through the consolation rounds to keep their season alive. Ludwin and Little each dropped their first match of the day but responded with two straight wins to make day two. Drylie also suffered a loss at the hands of his first opponent, then won three in a row to advance to day two.

After winning his first match by a major decision, Killip lost to Nebraska-Kearney’s Keith Surber. He then responded with a pin and a 9-2 decision victory in the second and third rounds of the consolation bracket to wrestle Saturday.

Dozier went 2-0 to start the day and found himself in great position as he had a 1-0 lead half way through the second period over the No. 3 ranked wrestler at 157 pounds, JaCobi Jones of CSU-Pueblo. Dozier fell victim to a wrong turn where he wound up on his back and Jones walked away with the pin. With the loss Dozier was sent to the consolation quarterfinals to take on Western State’s Ian Steen.

Other than Inman, the five Tiger wrestlers still alive are in a do-or-die situation starting on day two.

Nebraska-Kearney (129.5), California Baptist (93.5), and Western State (69.5) sit atop the team leaderboard and Fort Hays State currently sits at sixth with 54.0 points.
