Tigers host McPherson College for home opener

Fort Hays State welcomes McPherson College to Gross Memorial Coliseum for its 2014-15 home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 19.  Game time with the Bulldogs is set for 5:30 p.m.

FHSU (1-1) opened the season at the Radisson Hotel Roseville Classic in St. Paul, Minn. last weekend, splitting two games over the weekned with NCAA Central Region opponents Bemidji State (W, 71-65) and No. 10 Concordia-St. Paul (L, 68-70).  Kate Lehman was voted to the All-Tournament Team for her performance, as the senior center averaged 16.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for the weekend, just missing a double-double in both contests (which included a 24-point effort against BSU).

Other top performers on the weekend for FSHU included Jill Faxon, who had 21 points against the Beavers while averaging 14 and 5.5 rebounds over two games, who finished the weekend with an average of 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.  Bohuslavsky led the Tigers with 16 points against CU, joined in double-digit scoring by Chelsea Mason (13 points) and Nikola Kacperska(10 points).

MC (1-6) has dropped its previous two games, sandwiching a victory over Central Christian between an 0-3 start and the current streak.  The Bulldogs are led offensively by Bailey Brown’s 16.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game averages, while Sunny Smart has added 14.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

Since 2011-12, Fort Hays State is 15-0 at home during the month of November, and has posted an impressive 19-1 overall record in the season’s opening month during that span.
