Iryna McDonald, an associate professor of agronomy at FHSU and advisor to 2 stands at the event said that the event is a way to help the department connect with the community.
“We want people who live in Hays to actually know we’re here, we love to see everybody here and we want to be a part of the community,” she said.
This event also gave a good opportunity to promote the FHSU agriculture department while giving children a fun experience. Natalia Onelio, a member of Delta Tau Alpha, a national agriculture honor society, attended the event to help with the society’s coloring page table.
“This is a really good opportunity for the ag department and the community of Hays to put together an event and advertise the ag department,” Onelio said “Also, just to have some good time with kids and give kids the opportunity to have fun, play games, get some candy, and dress up.”
For the children attending, their favorite parts were varied. When asked a group of young kids what they enjoyed most, some mentioned candy and others favored coloring.
