The Hays Aquatic Park went to the dogs last Saturday as the community of Hays gathered for the annual Doggie Swim Day, marking the end of the summer season. Hays Rec invited local canines and their owners to enjoy a refreshing day at the pool before the facility closes for the year.
The water was just right as dogs of all shapes and sizes splashed and played to their hearts’ content, from retrievers diving in for a game of fetch to small terriers cautiously testing the water. The pool was filled with wagging tails and joyful barks.
“This is our first year attending Doggie Swim Day,” said Maddie McMurphy, a resident who brought her beagle Gus to enjoy a day at the pool. “It’s such a cool way to let Gus cool off and socialize with other pets in the community.”
This event serves as a reminder of the strong bond between pet owners and their companions. Many have noted that the event was a great opportunity for dogs to experience something new in a safe and controlled environment.
