Women’s golf 9th in preseason poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s golf team is ranked ninth in the preseason MIAA coaches poll, released Tuesday (Sept. 7) by the league office.

The Tigers received 27 points in the voting process, just eight points behind eighth-place Missouri Southern and nine back of seventh-place Northwest Missouri State.

Central Oklahoma tops the poll with 83 points thanks to four first-place votes. Rogers State also topped four ballots and received 78 points, while third and fourth place were separated by just one point. Central Missouri enters the year in third with Northeastern State just behind with 75 after picking up the final two top votes.

The Tigers return three from last year’s team in addition to four newcomers. Returning sophomore Morgan Brasser qualified for the NCAA DII Central Region Championships as an individual last spring, finishing just a few shots shy of advancing to the National Championships. The incoming class consists of three freshmen and one transfer.

The Tigers open their season this week in Blue Springs, Mo. at the Central Region Fall Preview, their first of six events in the fall of 2021.
