Men’s golf 8th in preseason poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fort Hays State men’s golf team is ranked eighth in the 2021-22 preseason MIAA coaches poll, released Tuesday (Sept. 7) by the league office.

The Tigers picked up 23 points in the balloting process, 10 points clear of ninth place. Central Missouri, the defending conference champions, top the poll with 72 points after topping eight ballots. Washburn received the other first-place vote and was second with 60 points.

Fort Hays State sat in fourth after the opening round of the 2021 MIAA Championships before finishing the tournament in eighth.

This year’s Tiger roster consists of five returners and five newcomers, including three true freshmen and two transfers.

Fort Hays State opens season next week in Topeka, Kan. for the Washburn Invitational, the first of six fall tournaments for the Tigers. FHSU will host the Tiger Classic October 18-19 at Smoky Hill Country Club, the second MIAA designated event of the season.
