WATCH: Chiefs fans celebrate “once in a lifetime” experience

BY NANCY VASQUEZ

A moment many Chiefs fans have hoped for the last 50 years finally happened last weekend, a victory in the Superbowl LIV.

After their victory, the mayor of Kansas City, MO, Quinton Lucas, scheduled the Championship parade to take place on February 5th, 2020. I ventured on this journey, with some Fort Hays students, to capture the craziness of the parade. Miguel Hernandez, a senior at FHSU said it was a moment many fans had been waiting for.

“It was a true moment of passion for me and all the fans that love this team, I’m so glad I got to experience this,” he said.

This parade was one of the most anticipated events for Kansas City, many die-hard fans drove hours and even camped out the night before to ensure the spot at the parade.  An estimated 800,000 people were present at the championship parade in Kansas City, Missouri.

The celebration didn’t stop there, popular pop artist, Post Malone performed at the Kansas City Sprint Center, where Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce made an appearance to continue their Superbowl victory celebration.

Experiencing the true loyalty of these fans and the love that locals have for their own city was an absolutely unforgettable moment.
