The Fort Hays State University Tiger Volleyball team hosted the number one team in the MIAA, and second-ranked team in the nation, Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on Tuesday night. The Lopers won with a 3-0 sweep in Hays.
“Our mindset was playing our game and coming ready to compete,” Coach Wood-Atkins said.
Fort Hays fell to the Lopers in the first and second sets 25-12. The Tigers fought hard in the third set, but the Lopers won the final set of the night 25-17.
Isabelle Reynolds led the team with 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Madison Miller and Taylor White tied up at 12 digs apiece, and White added in a service ace and eight assists. Katie Darnell put in a season-high of 12 assists as well.
“We had a game plan that I think worked pretty well against them,” Wood-Atkins said. “We were going point for point early on in the sets, but then we would have a hard time executing after those first several points.”
The Tigers will be on the road this Thursday against Missouri Western starting off at 5 p.m.
