No. 12 Tigers set to host Mountaineers on Friday

The No. 12 ranked Fort Hays State wrestling team plays host to No. 19 Western State Colorado this weekend (Jan. 25). The Tigers and Mountaineers will battle it out inside Gross Memorial Coliseum, beginning at 6 p.m.

Fort Hays State’s lineup consists of two seniors, three juniors, three sophomores, three redshirt-freshmen and one true freshman. The Tigers enter with three ranked individuals; No. 2 ranked Brandon Ball (141 pounds), No. 4 Efe Osaghae (157 pounds) and No. 9 Marty Verhaeghe (174 pounds). Meanwhile the Mountaineers have the top ranked wrestler in the 174-pound weight class (Brandon Supernaw).

125 | True freshman Broderick Green enters weekend 9-16 overall and leads the squad in pins (six).

133 | Junior Wyatt Alvis gets the nod at 133 pounds and is 3-6 in limited action this season.

141 | No. 2 ranked Brandon Ball is riding a 16-bout winning streak heading into the dual against Western State.

149 | Senior Ryne Cokeley enters the weekend 3-3 on the year. Cokeley is coming off a 2-0 showing at the Midwest Duals (Jan. 19).

157 | No. 4 ranked Efe Osaghae is 20-3 so far this year, including a 14-2 clip against Division II competition.

165 | Either Aryus Jones or Conrad Vajnar will get the nod in this weight class. Jones is 13-5 so far this year, with a 4-3 record against Division II opponents. Vajnar enters with seven victories.

174 | FHSU will have options for this class as well. No. 9 ranked Marty Verhaeghe is tied for first on the squad on Division II wins (14). Verhaeghe is 17-9 on the year.

184 | Senior Micquille Robinson paces the team in wins (28) and major decisions (nine). Robinson sits at 28-6 this season.

197 | Jordan Davis is set to compete in the 197-pound class for the Tigers and is 9-11 on the year, including three major decisions and one pin.

285 | A.J. Cooper has made his mark in the heavyweight class with a 16-9 overall record and an 9-8 clip among Division II competition.
