Fort Hays State kept their home record perfect as they defeated Central Christian College, 71- 46 on Tuesday. Brady Werth was left on the bench for most of the first half due to early foul trouble. Werth left the game with 12:30 left in the first.
The Tigers three-point shooting made up for Werth’s missing presence, as they shot 5-12 from three-point range at 41.7 percent.
Fort Hays State would enter halftime up 37-18.
Coming out of the half the Tigers continued to hit shots beyond the arc.
Nyjee Wright and Trey O’ Neil had a combined 6 threes and the Tigers would finish 8-26 from three at 30.8 percent.
The big difference maker that gave FHSU an edge was offensive rebounds. The Tigers grabbed 12 boards compared to Central Christian’s five on the game.
Fort Hays State had 15 more free-throw shots than Central Christian, which contributed to their overall shooting woes.
Central Christian’s 17-51 field goal shooting wasn’t nearly enough to give Fort Hays State any trouble down the stretch.
The Tigers improve their overall record to 4-3 on the season after tonight’s game and will be back in action on December 4th versus Nebraska Kearney at Gross Memorial Coliseum.
