Tigers host Bluejays in Non-Conference Tussle

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team will take a break from conference play tonight when they host Tabor College. First tip is set for 5:30 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.

The Tigers head into the contest with an 8-2 record this year and are riding a two-game winning streak. Tabor sits at 9-3 this year and is ranked 20th in the NAIA Division II Coaches Poll.

Fort Hays State is coming off its biggest win of the season, upsetting previously top-ranked Emporia State in a thriller, 54-51. It was the second-straight year the Tigers defeated the Lady Hornets while they were the No. 1 team in the country.

The Tigers have dominated the all-time series with Tabor, winning all 17 matchups between the schools. It is the most wins without a loss against any school in program history. 13 of the 17 wins have come in Hays. The Tigers are 5-0 against the Bluejays under Tony Hobson.

Nikola Kacperska has led the Tigers offensively of late, averaging 13 points per game over the last five contests. For the year, Kacperska (10.1 points per game) and fellow senior Jill Faxon (10.5 ppg) lead the team. Tatyana Legette leads the team and ranks eighth in the conference with 7.2 rebounds per game. Emma Stroyan maintained her lead in the conference with two blocks against Emporia State, now averaging 2.4 blocks per contest. The junior has picked up at least one block in every game this season.

The Bluejays are led by Morgan Ediger, who averages 12.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest. The sophomore also ranks second in assists with 2.6 per outing.
