FHSU Hosts Lindenwood in First Dual of the Season Thursday

FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION DEPARTMENT

Fort Hays State Wrestling opens the 2016 dual season on Thursday (Dec. 1) when it welcomes Lindenwood to Hays at 7 pm for an MIAA matchup. The dual will be the first of the season for both teams after each competed in multiple open tournaments to kick-start the season.

Leading the Tigers is All-American Jon Inman at 184 pounds. Inman who bumped up to 197 pounds this season has shown why he is the No. 4 ranked wrestler in the nation. Inman has gone undefeated to start the 2016 season posting an untarnished record of 11-0. He has won all three tournaments he has competed in.

In addition to Inman, 285-pounder Christian Lance has started 2016 on fire. He is also undefeated sitting at 15-0 to start his first varsity season for FHSU and has claimed three individual open crowns to start the season.

At 141 pounds, Brandon Ball has been another Tiger off to a great start at 11-2. The 11 wins for the redshirt-freshman puts him just three wins shy of his total from last year.

The Lions were picked to finish second in the MIAA in the preseason poll. Leading Lindenwood on the mat is the duo of Kyle Jolas (165) and Dillon Archer (197). Jolas, who is the No. 8 wrestler at 165 pounds, has gone 7-3 to start the year after leading the team with 28 wins in his sophomore season. Archer, who is projected to take the mat against Inman at 197 pounds, is currently the No. 9 ranked wrestler in the weight class. He has had a rough start to the season going just 4-4 so far, after qualifying for the NCAA Division II Championships last season.
