Tiger Men Finish 12th at ESU Relays

EMPORIA, Kan. – Fort Hays State men’s track and field finished 12th in the team standings at the State Farm ESU Relays on Saturday (Apr. 2). Isaac Williams was the highest placer for the Tigers in an event, finishing second in the 3000 meters.

Williams ran a time of 8:56.56 in the 3000 meters to produce eight team points for FHSU. Feysel Rahmeto and Brock Elgin scored six points for FHSU in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Rahmeto was fifth in 9:51.03 and Elgin was seventh in 9:52.90. Israel Barco also gained the Tigers a point in the 1500 meters by finishing eighth in 4:03.51.

In sprints, Dillando Allotey was the only Tiger to put points on the board, finishing eighth in the 200 meters in 22.05 seconds.

In field events, Kolt Newell produced 5.5 points in the high jump with a third-place finish. He matched his best height of the season at 6 feet, 8.75 inches, which ranks seventh nationally. In the triple jump, Jordan Carroll finished fifth with a distance of 47 feet, 0.25 inches, producing four team points.

The Tigers as a team scored 25.5 points. Wichita State won the meet with 96.5 points.
