PITTSBURG, Kan. – Fort Hays State’s women finished 10th at the 2016 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Tigers scored 20 points for the meet, half generated by Micki Krzesinski in distance events.
Krzesinski turned in a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 3000 meters and 5000 meters. She broke her own school record in the 3000 with a time of 10:09.38, edging the old mark by about six-tenths of a second. She ran a time of 17:41.15 in the 5000.
The distance medley relay team of Sophie Dalmasso, Mindy Wilson, Lisa Penner, and Shea Bonine finished fourth to generate five more team points with a time of 12:33.67. Bonine gave the Tigers three more points in the mile run with a time of 5:11.66 to finish sixth.
Eighth place finishes from Kelly Wycoff and Selam Ball rounded out the scoring for FHSU. Wycoff set a new school record in the 400 meters with a time of 57.61 seconds, while Ball cleared a height of 11 feet, 10.5 inches in the pole vault. The mark upped Ball’s NCAA provisional mark in the pole vault and she now ranks 30th on the performance list.
