FHSU Sports Information Department

GUNNISON, Colo. – Fort Hays State is sending three wrestlers to the NCAA Division II Championships on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 11-12) in Sioux Falls, S.D. Jon Inman (184) took second, while Adam Ludwin (125) took third, and Bradley Little (149) finished fourth.

Inman went 3-0 on day one of the West Super Regional locking his place in the NCAA Championship. Ranked No. 6, Inman dropped the 184-pound final match to the No. 5 wrestler Jacob Waste from California Baptist by a 6-2 decision. The second-place finish is the highest for Inman at the Super Regional and sends him to the championship site for the third consecutive year.

Ludwin dropped his first match of the tournament, but responded winning three straight on the way to his first-ever NCAA Championship appearance. Ludwin won his first match of day two with a pin over the No. 2 ranked Dustin Reed of Newman University at the 2:50 mark. He didn’t stop there going on to win the third-place match with another pin over Central Oklahoma’s Zach D’Amico, who knocked off Ludwin in the first round.

With the fourth-place finish, Little is heading back the NCAA Championships for the second time in a row. Like Ludwin, Little dropped his first match of the tournament but responded with three straight wins to wrestle another day. In his first match of day two, Little pinned New Mexico Highlands’ Reis Humphrey in the second period. Little then dropped the third-place bout to Colorado Mesa’s Drew Schumann in a 7-5 decision. He could not be challenged for fourth by the fifth-place finisher due to a win over that individual earlier in the tournament.

Seniors Noah Killip (141) and Joey Dozier (157) saw their careers come to an end at Fort Hays State as both fell short of advancing on day two. Junior Cash Drylie (197) claimed fifth place but also saw his hopes of advancing disappear when he lost in the consolation semis.

Fort Hays State took fifth in the team standings with 76.0 points and went 20-18 as a team on the weekend. No. 5 Nebraska-Kearney (145.5), No. 9 California Baptist (112.5), No. 14 Western State Colorado (87.0), and No. 11 Colorado Mesa (82.5) finished in the four spots ahead of the Tigers and UNK has now won the last six regional titles as a team.
