FHSU Men Finish Eighth at MIAA Indoor Championships

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Fort Hays State’s men placed eighth at the 2016 MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Tigers scored 39 points as a team, led by All-MIAA performer Jake Morrow.

Morrow was the only Tiger athlete to earn All-MIAA honors over the weekend, placing third in the pole vault. He cleared a height of 16 feet, 0.5 inches, scoring six team points for the Tigers.

FHSU had four fifth-place finishers, worth four points each, which included Kal Hamm in the high jump (6 feet, 5.5 inches), Rodrigo Alves in the 60 meters (6.91 seconds), Michael Kinuthia in the 800 meters (1:55.47), and the distance medley relay team in a time of 10:16.04.

Brett Meyer set a new school record in the 600 yard run with a time of 1:12.55 to finish sixth. It broke a long standing record of 1:13 flat set by Dennis Kozub in 1972 and Mike Hullman in 1977. Isaac Williams also had a sixth-place finish in the 5000 meters in 15:02.72.

Jordan Carroll generated five points in a pair of jumping events, finishing sixth in the triple jump (47 feet, 5.75 inches) to match his best provisional effort of the season and then seventh in the long jump (22 feet, 3.75 inches).
