FHSU Men Face Surging UCO Squad on Saturday in Hays

Fort Hays State hosts Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Jan. 16) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 4 pm. The Tigers are 12-4 overall and 6-4 in the MIAA while the Bronchos enter on a three-game win streak, now 8-8 overall and 4-6 in the MIAA.

The Tigers snapped a two-game losing skid on Thursday night with a win over Northeastern State by a score of 84-74. The win pushed the Tigers back within a game of the MIAA lead as four teams are tied for first at 7-3. Central Oklahoma knocked off Nebraska-Kearney in Kearney on Thursday night, running its win streak to three games.

Craig Nicholson passed two milestones in the win over Northeastern State. He moved to second alone on the all-time assists list at FHSU with 561 in his career. He also moved to ninth on the all-time scoring list, now with 1,255 points in his career. He passed Fred Campbell on the list, who had 1,250 as a Tiger. Nicholson is averaging 10.2 points and 4.5 assists per game so far this year.

Rob Davis posted his sixth game with at least 20 points on Thursday evening, going for a team-high 24 in the win over Northeastern State. He has scored at least 20 in five of the last eight games. He leads the team in scoring for conference games only at 18.6 per contest. Overall, he averages 16.8 per game.

Dom Samac leads the team in scoring and rebounding overall at 17.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He posted his second double-double of the season on Thursday night with 13 points and 13 rebounds. The 13 rebounds tied a career high. Jake Stoppel is the team leader in double-doubles with three and he averages 11.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Bronchos have a balanced scoring attack with seven players averaging at least six points per game, led by Cornell Neal at 14.0 points per game.
