Fort Hays State moved higher among the teams receiving votes in the latest AFCA Division II Poll, released on Monday (Sept. 21). The Tigers are receiving 25 votes in the poll this week after receiving just seven in the previous week. FHSU is among the list of teams receiving votes for the third consecutive week.
Fort Hays State is among five MIAA schools either in the top 25 or receiving votes. All four Kansas schools in the MIAA are among those five. Fort Hays State and Emporia State are both 3-0 overall, but are still among the receiving votes teams. Washburn (2-1) upset Pittsburg State (No. 4 last week) in Pittsburg to move into the list of teams receiving votes and Pittsburg State (2-1) dropped to No. 15 in this week’s poll. Northwest Missouri State held steady at No. 3, the only other school besides FHSU and ESU to remain unbeaten in the MIAA.
Fort Hays State hosts No. 15 Pittsburg State this Saturday at 7 pm for the annual Tailgreat game at Lewis Field Stadium. The Tigers are off to their first-ever 3-0 start under head coach Chris Brown. FHSU knocked off then No. 8 Pittsburg State last year in Pittsburg by a score of 7-6.
