Fort Hays State Football will be featured in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week twice in 2015. The Tigers are scheduled to be on television in the season opener at Central Oklahoma on September 3, and then later in the season when they host Nebraska-Kearney on October 31.
The first match up of the season should be intriguing when Central Oklahoma and Fort Hays State tangle in Edmond. Central Oklahoma and Fort Hays State both reached new heights in the MIAA in 2014. The Bronchos jumped all the way to third place in the conference standings at 8-3 overall after finishing near the bottom in their first two years as members of the MIAA. The Tigers have shown steady progress in Chris Brown‘s first four years as head coach. FHSU tied for fourth in the MIAA last year at 7-4, a new program best since joining the conference in 2006. It was the first seven-win season for FHSU Football since the 1996 season.
The October 31 game at Lewis Field Stadium features the classic rivalry between Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney. The Lopers own the all-time series lead 34-26-1, but the Tigers have won the last three meetings since the Lopers joined the MIAA in 2012. FHSU defeated UNK in Kearney in 2014 by a score of 24-17. FHSU has won five of the last six meetings between the schools dating back to the 2003 season.
The MIAA TV Network will travel to a different MIAA campus for ten consecutive weeks beginning with Thursday night broadcasts on September 3 and September 10. The remainder of the games will be televised at 2:30 pm each Saturday.
As done in previous seasons, the MIAA TV Network has left the final Saturday (Nov 14) of the regular season open as a “flex” game in order to be able to select a game with significant impact in determining a conference champion and/or selection for postseason opportunities.
