Tiger Tennis falls in conference play at Lindenwood

Fort Hays State fell in conference action on Saturday at Lindenwood in St. Charles, Mo., by a score of 7-2. FHSU was shutout in doubles action, but won two of six singles matches contested.

The closest doubles match was at the No. 1 position as Camille Caron-Bedard and Reinette Strydom fell 8-5 to Gloria Marras and Clara Piccamiglio. The No. 2 team of Brittney Ricci and Katie Hipp fell 8-1 to Daria Ivanova and Mariona Pinol. At No. 3, Michelle Miller and Jessica Johnson fell 8-4 to Alexandra Medvedeva and Diana Castro.

In singles play, two of the six matches went three sets. The Tigers took one of those two. Ricci won her three-set match at the No. 2 position by scores of 1-6, 6-4, 10-1 over Piccamiglio. Katie Hipp lost her three-set match at No. 5 to Castro by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 10-6.

Caron-Bedard picked up the other team point for FHSU by winning at the No. 1 position, 7-5, 6-3, over Marras. At No. 3, Miller lost 6-3, 6-1 to Ivanova, while at No. 4, Strydom lost 6-0, 6-0 to Pinol. At No. 6, Johnson lost 6-1, 6-2 to Medvedeva.

The Tigers close out conference play on Tuesday at home against Nebraska-Kearney, starting at 3:30 p.m. It will be the final home match of the season for FHSU.
