Fort Hays State senior Brady Tien won the pole vault on Saturdayat the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan., hosted by Wichita State University. Tien was the only top-three finisher for the Tigers at the meet.
Tien won the event with a height of 16-feet, 0.75-inches, topping a field of 18 competitors. The height is a provisional qualifying mark, but Tien’s effort earlier in the year at the UNK Loper Invite (16-feet, 7.25-inches) has him ranked fourth on the national performance list. Fellow pole vaulter Jake Morrow came up just short of the provisional qualifying standard, finishing fourth in the event with a height of 15-feet, 7-inches.
On the track, Michael Kinuthia had the highest finish for the Tigers running 1:53.68 in the 800 meters. The time was just over a second short of the provisional qualifying standard.
