Fort Hays State Wrestling begins regular season competition last Saturday at the Bethany Swede Open. Wrestlers from over 20 schools are scheduled to compete in the event, which runs all day Saturday at the Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg, Kan.
FHSU sends 18 attached and seven unattached wrestlers to the open tournament. The Tigers were picked third in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches’ Poll and received votes in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Preseason Poll, with two individually ranked wrestlers – Josh Rodriguez (174 pounds) and Jon Inman (184 pounds) – to begin the season.
