Fort Hays State University’s Department of Music and Theater presents “Hello Dolly” Oct. 2 through Oct. 5 in Felton Start Theater located in Malloy Hall.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.
The play follows matchmaker, Dolly Levi as she takes a trip to Yonkers, New York to see the “well-known unmarried half-a-millionaire,” Horace Vandergelder. A widow, Dolly finds herself in love with a “half-a-millionaire” Yonkers merchant named Horace Vandergelder. She proceeds to weave a web of romantic complications involving him, his two clerks, a pretty milliner and her assistant. Eventually, of course, all is sorted out, and everyone ends up with the right person.
This musical is one of the most recognizable performances that has ever been on Broadway, with more than 2,800 performances and 10 Tony Awards, a record that held for 35 years.
Tickets can be purchased at the box office before each performance. Tickets for individual performances are $15 for the public and $10 for students K-12, FHSU students and senior citizens 55 and up. Season passes for all four productions for the general public is $50, $30 for senior citizens and $25 for students.
