On Friday, the University Activity Board showed the comedic movie, 22 Jump Street, in the Memorial Union Ballroom to the students who wanted to see it.
“I had plans with people and I was kind of bailed on, but I knew I would have other friends here,” said Daelynn Belden, Salina freshman.
According to Edith Reza, a member of the University Activity Board, the UAB chooses what movie will be shown for the After Dark Event. After each movie, they give away prizes such as a tablet, Xbox One, and a $100 gift card.
22 Jump Street was the chosen movie for the After Dark theme of the night. In the movie, two cops must go undercover as college students in order to find whoever is selling illicit drugs on campus.
Some were enticed to attend the After Dark event for the free food and prizes.
“Hopefully to win an Xbox,” Hayden Ball, Edmond, Okla., freshman said when he was asked why he attended the event. He had attended the first After Dark that happened back in August when the University Activities Board featured Disney’s Maleficent as their theme. Ball’s favorite part of the event was the free nachos.
“The next After Dark is October 3. We will be giving away a GoPro, a flat screen TV, and a $100 gift card,” Reza said. The next theme will be After Dark in Space. The University Activity Board will be showing The Final Frontier. Join your fellow Tigers in the quest of enjoying an adventure through space.
