For the first time this holiday season, CreekSide Resort has a Christmas light walkthrough for the holidays. The light show is called Christmas at CreekSide and features over 100,000 bulbs and over half a mile trail to walk through. CreekSide owner Aaron Dreher describes it as a perfect activity to get into the Christmas spirit.

Dreher has been wanting to bring something new to the Hays area that families, friends, and students would enjoy.

“I want to start a tradition like I had when I was a child,” Dreher said.

Traveling with family during the holidays and seeing Christmas lights is a cherished childhood memory for Dreher.

“Every year, we would go to Tulsa for Thanksgiving with family. We would go to the light show they had there and we loved it,” Dreher said.

He wants to bring his memories to life and share them with the Hays community. Along with starting new traditions, Dreher hopes it will increase tourism and help businesses in the area. The trail takes visitors through the “Twelve Days of Christmas in Hays,” a fun spin-off of the song. Dreher encourages patrons to dress warmly, as there is a movie attendees can stop and view along the trail.

Admission for the trail is $8 and hot cocoa is available for purchase to keep patrons warm as they walk through. The trail is open 6-11:00 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, until December 30th.
