HHS girls come up short against Dodge City

By JAYCEE DALE

A tough test against a good team. That’s what Friday night’s Western Athletic Conference game came down to for the Hays High School girls’ basketball team.

In the end, it resulted in a 52-26 victory for Dodge City.

The Indians struggled to work against the Demon defense, only putting up three points in the first quarter as Dodge City bolted to an 18-3 advantage.

After another tough quarter offensively, HHS was only able to put six more points on the board — trailing 24-9 at the break.

Dodge City outscored the Indians 18-9 in the third quarter to build a 42-18 commanding lead.

The Demons put it on cruise control in the final eight minutes to secure the win.

The Indians will play Friday at Colby.
