A 31-year-old Scott City man will not be tested for the new coronavirus after he told an 11-year-old girl he would give her the virus and then coughed in her face at a Dollar General store, police said.

Chance Archie Seamans was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of terrorism and criminal threat, the Scott City Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Police were called about the incident at 8:27 p.m. and arrested Seamans at around 11 p.m. Police said Seamans showed no symptoms, including fever.

“Therefore, he will not qualify for testing,” police said in the post.

Chief David Post said Seamans is known to police and thought to have been under the influence of alcohol.

“He seemed to think it was a joke and it was not perceived that way by the victim,” Post said.

Police are investigating a second, similar incident from Tuesday involving a store employee and Seamans, Post said.
