MDC to hold two public workshops in February

By UNIVERSITY RELATIONS

The Management Development Center at Fort Hays State University will hold two public workshops in February, one on managing stress and another in the CliftonStrengths series.

According to the American Psychological Association, people in the United States are reporting heightened levels of stress and anxiety as well as an inability to manage work-life demands. If you feel stressed and overwhelmed at work, struggle with burnout and exhaustion, or have trouble managing your work-life balance, you’re not alone.

“Managing Stress & Burnout,” a workshop from the MDC at Fort Hays State, will help you keep stress and anxiety under control. Participants will learn about emotional intelligence and mindfulness, two topics that have been shown to help in managing stress and burnout.

Participants will also explore and practice useful strategies to manage stress at work and home. This workshop will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, in Forsyth Library on the FHSU campus. Registration is $119.

This is the chance for those who have already taken the MDC’s workshop “CliftonStrengths Essentials” to explore their strengths further.

After exploring their top-five talent themes in a previous CliftonStrengths workshop, participants will now have the opportunity to unlock and explore all 34 of their talent themes.

In this workshop, participants will hone the top five, understand their top 10, and manage their bottom five strengths while learning how each one contributes to unique partnerships and teams.

This full-day workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Memorial Union’s Trails Room on the FHSU campus. Registration is $259.

Registration can be completed online at www.fhsu.edu/mdc. Early registration closes one week before each workshop. Hays Area Chamber of Commerce members are eligible for a 15-percent discount.
