Sixteen-year-old rapper Taymor McIntyre, who goes by Tay-K, was found guilty of murder Friday afternoon in the case of a 2016 home invasion. The home invasion resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker in Mansfield, Texas.

Jurors did, however, find McIntyre not guilty in the greater charge of capital murder, which would require a mandatory life sentence.

While McIntyre was not the one to fire the fatal shot, he was responsible for recruiting the gunman and organizing the robbery, prosecutors said. The robbery was set in place to allegedly avenge three young women seeking revenge on Walker and his roommate, Zachary Beloate.

While awaiting trial on house arrest, McIntyre cut off his ankle bracelet and went on the run before releasing his single “The Race,” which told the story of his fugitive status.

The charges he was found guilty of have the teen facing five to 99 years in prison. McIntyre still is facing charges of capital murder in Bexar County for a 2017 shooting outside of a San Antonio Chick-fil-A, leaving a man fatally wounded.

Throughout his long legal battle, Tay-K also released an entire mix-tape labeled “Santana World,” which grossed approximately $500,000 in sales. The families of Walker and Beloate have sued the record label’s release profits.
