The search for the suspect in an alleged sexual assault recently in Hays has ended.
The Hays Police Department issued a statement late Tuesday evening that said 23-year-old Tre M. Carrasco had been apprehended in Aurora, Colo.
Carrasco was a person of interest in the alleged sexual assault of a 19-year-old female earlier this month. Carrasco was released from prison only a few days prior to the alleged incident. He was serving time for a similar crime he committed as a teenager.
Police cautioned Carrasco was considered to be armed and dangerous. He had been spotted in Colby a few hours after the alleged assault, and law enforcement believed he was headed to the Denver area at that time. Aurora is a suburb of Denver.
