Inman Among Most Dominant Wrestlers in NCAA Division II

A release by the NCAA on Wednesday (Feb. 3) has Fort Hays State’s Jon Inman as the fourth most dominant wrestler in NCAA Division II. The NCAA Wrestling Awards Standings began in 2012 and recognize in each division to the most dominant wrestler, as well as most pin falls and technical falls.

The system for calculating the most dominant wrestler takes the total number of team points, or would be team points in an open tournament, and dividing them by the number of matches wrestled. Point scoring is listed below:

* Fall, forfeit, injury default or DQ = 6 points (-6 points for a loss)
* Tech falls = 5 points (-5 points for a loss)
* Major decision = 4 points (-4 points for a loss)
* Decision = 3 points (-3 points for a loss)

Inman, who has compiled an overall record of 28-1 for the Tigers this season, is still undefeated against NCAA Division II competition at 15-0. He has accumulated his 4.64 points per match average in those 15 matches with seven pin falls (six at the time of this release), four decisions, three major decisions, and one technical fall. Inman trails Tiffin University’s 285 pounder Garrett Grey by just .04 points per match and is only .63 points behind Pittsburg-Johnstown’s Travis McKillop (184), who currently sits in first place averaging 5.27 points per match.

Inman is the No. 6 ranked wrestler at 184 pounds in NCAA Division II.
