After dropping the first two games of the series to No. 9-ranked Pittsburg State University, the Fort Hays State University baseball team used a late charge to take the series finale, 11-7.
FHSU (10-24 overall, 7-17 MIAA) led 3-2 after the first inning, only to see the Gorillas claw their way back to take a 7-6 lead entering the bottom of the eighth.
That’s when the Tigers exploded for 6 runs to take a four-run cushion. FHSU held Pitt State scoreless in the top of the ninth to secure the win.
