The Online Student Government Association (OSGA) met on Saturday.
The group is developing the annual Online Student Survey, which will be sent after spring break.
Senator Ari Rad took the lead in developing the survey questions. The survey is organized into several sections, including timely grading, quality of communication and transparency, the FHSU bookstore experience, and course format and lecture delivery preferences.
“We are very fortunate that he has the knowledge and experience to take out leading questions, the bias, all that,” President Eileen Moore said. “It’s going to make our survey even more legitimate.”
OSGA is also considering using the survey to assess online students’ awareness of the organization.
“This might be an opportunity for us to do a little PR and demographic study or response of how we are perceived, how OSGA is perceived,” Moore said.
Once the questions are finalized, a Google Form will be created and emailed to all online students.
The group also discussed elections for the next year’s OSGA senators and leadership.
Elections previously took place in the fall of each academic year. However, moving them to the spring allows the group to begin the year fully prepared rather than spending the first two months onboarding new members.
“We want to end this semester with knowing who our executive leadership is going to be, and then recruiting any new senators,” Moore said.
Students can nominate themselves or nominate another student. Professors and administrators can also nominate students.
“We definitely need to grow our rank,” Moore said.
Work is continuing on the spring edition of the Online Newsletter.
The next OSGA meeting will be at 11 a.m. CST on March 14 on Google Meet. Email osag@fhsu.edu for the meeting invitation link.
