On a rainy Friday night, the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs hosted the Plainville Cardinals on TMP’s senior night. TMP used their running game to ground and pound their way to a 27-12 victory
TMP senior quarterback Carson Liles led the way for the Monarchs, with a good game on the ground and through the air. Even with the slick conditions, both teams were able to adapt to the weather.
Plainville threatened to cut the TMP lead multiple times throughout the night, but the Monarchs’ defense was able to keep them out of the endzone aside from Plainville scores in the first and fourth quarters.
With this being the last game of the regular season, the playoffs start this week. TMP Head Coach Grant Stephenson looked ahead to their postseason expectations.
“If we stay focused, get healthy and stay healthy, we will make a decent run,” he said.
TMP will host Blue Rapids-Valley Heights in the Week 9 round of the playoffs.
