Chart-topping pop showstopper, Taylor Swift, and star football player, Travis Kelce, announced their engagement on Tuesday in a joint Instagram post. The caption on their announcement read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” followed by a firecracker emoji.
Their post got 10 million likes in the first hour and over 20 million by the end of the day.
Their “Love Story” began when Kelce attended one of the shows of the Eras Tour in 2023 and attempted to give Swift a friendship bracelet. Trading friendship bracelets was one of the many traditions during the tour among fans. After mentioning his failed attempt during one of the episodes on the podcast he has with his brother Jason Kelce, “New Heights,” people started to try to reach out to Swift to get her attention.
“Basically, everyone who likes you, which is a lot of people, started reaching out to everyone who knows me,” Swift said during the “New Heights” episode she appeared on earlier this month. “It was wild, but it worked.”
Swift and Kelce got pulled together by an “Invisible String,” and once they took their relationship out into the open, they showed the world their devotion to each other by attending each other’s events. Travis attended the Eras Tour and also appeared on stage on June 23, 2024, at Wembley Stadium in London, during the transition into “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” Swift attended his games and watched with his mother.
Swifties all over the globe celebrate their engagement with sharing the news as well as companies and sports networks sharing the news such as “Auntie Anne’s” posting “Can I be the flower girl?” and Panera Bread saying “It’s a Loaf Story, Baby Just Say Yeast” with the colors of the post resembling the colors of Swift’s new album “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Not only is it something Swifties have dreamed of for so long, but Swift has also been looking for her “Endgame,” and she finally found it with Kelce.
Now, as they step forward hand in hand, the world watches this “New Romantics” couple who truly show that sometimes, “You Are in Love.”
